Supervisory Dietitian

The following duties are performed, but not limited to:
Functions as a professional and technical advisor to clinical staff, other allied healthcare professionals, program directors and angers throughout the medical center/facility Develops, and implements nutrition therapy programs Ensures that materials utilized in patient education are based on current literature, practice and research Supports and/or participates in clinical research studies performed in the medical center Keeps abreast of current scientific, technological, theoretical and treatment modality changes, as well as management theory, relating to the provision of nutritional care Develops and implements nutritional care protocols using principles of evidence-based practice to establish and/or improve nutritional care guidelines. Evaluates the care given to patients to assure compliance with standards. Direct the provision of nutritional therapy by supervising the activities of clinical dietitians, which includes nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring and education Develops and implements nutrition care policies and guidelines for compliance with all regulatory agency requirements and specific VHA guidelines Develops and implements a performance improvement program to ensure provision of high-quality nutrition care and improved outcomes. Prepares and submits reports to staff and management. Reviews electronic medical records of patients to substantiate that clinical staff meet established guidelines of care that meet the needs of patients Develops position descriptions or functional statements and determines the level of competency necessary to meet mandatory job requirements Develops performance standards and competency statements Conducts performance reviews and competency assessments Evaluates performance of dietitians and uses the incentive award process to recognize staff for performance awards or special contributions Collects data for preparation of the annual report for submission to the VA central office Prepares and submits a variety of clinical and administrative reports, as required Conducts staffing and productivity studies to ensure effective manpower utilization. Assures that clinical and counters and workload statistics are maintained. Adjusts staff assignments/schedules accordingly Recruits, interviews and recommends selection of new clinical staff Recommends and initiates disciplinary counseling and actions for subordinates, as guided by human resources management, union contracts and N&FS Policy Motivates employees to operate as an effective working team utilizing constructive coaching techniques through individual and group communications Functions as a professional and technical advisor to other care lines and/or services Develops and or revise his policies and procedures for the clinical nutrition section Effectively applies EEO principles Develops strategic planning goals and objectives for the clinical program and purposes nutrition policy changes regarding patient treatment and healthcare issues related to the provision of nutritional therapy Supports and or participates in clinical research studies performed in the medical center and assures all research related projects by the registered dietitian are in compliance with the regulation of the facilities institutional review board Provides input and recommendations to the chief, nutrition food service regarding medical center and healthcare system long and short range planning and assist in the development and implementation of policy which reflects the goals of the agency and VISN Maintains effective communication with medical center staff to identify and assist in the resolution of a wide variety of programs. Encourage and supports proactive planning Participates as a full member on inter-disciplinary committees and on special projects and activities as assigned Participates in the planning of all new construction and modernization projects that impact the nutritional care of patients Serves as a consultant to the executive leader ship and VISN in matters pertaining to N&FS Assists the chief, N&FS in the interpretation and advises other services, programs and top management concerning General agency guidelines that impact N&FS Work Schedule:

Education and Supervised Practice - (1) The individual must have earned a bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent and fulfilled each of the following criteria:
Completed a didactic program in dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Completed an ACEND accredited or approved supervised practice program. Time spent in a dietetic internship or supervised practice program does not qualify as creditable experience. Registration - All applicants must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Grade Determinations:
Completion of 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs. Ability to develop, maintain, and supervise a system of internal reviews and direct quality control and performance improvement studies to assure compliance with various accrediting, regulatory, and agency authorities. Knowledge of the principles of program management and oversight required to develop program goals and objectives, administer and monitor program, evaluate program outcomes/accomplishments, set and redefine priorities, and implement effective solutions in processes/systems as needed. Ability to act as a consultant for staff. Ability to determine the continuing education needs of program staff and appropriate resources to meet those needs. Ability to manage and establish program goals and objectives, plan and administer a program, coordinate associated activities and resources, evaluate program accomplishments, redefine priorities, problem solve, and modify objectives. Ability to manage/supervise, i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control, review, activities of the program and groups of subordinates. References:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
